Founder of the Richard Wagner Society of Atlanta:
Boris Cepeda, a distinguished pianist and conductor with a successful worldwide career, embarked on his journey with Wagner’s music at the tender age of 8. The melodies of „Tannhäuser“ and „Lohengrin“ ignited a flame within him, propelling him into a lifelong love affair with the exceptional compositions of the great German composer.
As Boris pursued his piano studies at the University of Arts in Bremen, his exceptional talent and dedication were recognized when he won the prestigious scholarship of the Richard Wagner Society International. This accolade served as a stepping stone for Boris to immerse himself in the world of Wagnerian opera, attending numerous performances in the hallowed halls of Bayreuth.
One of the pivotal moments in Boris’s illustrious career was his attendance at Bayreuth’s Tristan und Isolde. Seated in the front rows, surrounded by the anticipation of darkness, he felt the orchestra’s first notes resonating from beneath, setting the stage for a profound connection with Wagner’s artistry. This marked the beginning of Boris’s deep and enduring relationship with Wagner’s oeuvre.
A significant milestone in Boris’s journey unfolded during his involvement in the rehearsals of the Ring in Dessau, often hailed as the Bayreuth of the North. This experience added layers to his understanding of Wagner’s masterpieces, cementing his place as a dedicated steward of Wagnerian traditions.
Boris Cepeda’s worldwide success as a pianist and conductor adds a unique dimension to his role as the founder of the Richard Wagner Society of Atlanta. His unwavering dedication to the world of Richard Wagner has inspired the creation of this society, where we aim to celebrate and share the enduring legacy of Wagner’s music.
